What Happens When SPIKE Legacy Retires?

From January 2024 onwards, any programs originally created in SPIKE 3 will no longer be compatible with SPIKE Legacy. This means that if your students created a program in SPIKE Legacy, they won't be able to open it using the SPIKE 3 app on an updated hub.

However, since version 3.2.3, you can use the SPIKE 3 app to open programs originally created in SPIKE Legacy. It's crucial to check your programs before running them, as some Word blocks might be automatically overwritten or removed.

SPIKE Hub Compatibility Issues

One of the significant challenges lies in the compatibility requirements between the app version and the hub operating system (OS). Each app version requires a different hub OS, which means you can only have one operating system installed at a time on your SPIKE hub. This is why it's essential to ensure that the app version matches the hub OS.
